Ripieno Ensemble PH is comprised of seven students and alumni from the University of the Philippines College of Music. It is the official ensemble of the Manila Composers Lab, and is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia.
Since its founding in January 2015, the ensemble has been establishing itself through its diverse repertoire of contemporary music by local, Asian and Western composers. In June 2015, the ensemble received a scholarship to participate in The Modern Academy in Hong Kong, an intensive workshop on new music, organized by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble.
In 2016, the Manila Composers Lab, together with the ensemble, collaborated with Goethe Institut PH to host a workshop and competition for young Southeast Asian composers (Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam) who wrote new pieces for the ensemble.
The ensemble participated in the Pasinaya Festival 2017, an arts festival hosted by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, held in line with the celebration of national arts month. Last May 2017, the ensemble performed in Nanning, China as part of the Philippine delegation for the China-ASEAN Music Festival.
The ensemble has performed in various concert venues in the Philippines and has been featured in several radio programs to promote new music.
Stefanie Quintin and Anton Luis Avila started performing together as a duo since 2007. The duo’s repertoire consists of music from the Renaissance to Contemporary, focusing on Filipino and Latin American art songs. The duo has performed in various venues in the Philippines, promoting classical music through lecture-recitals. The duo won first prize at the Timpalak Kundiman held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines last July 2018 for their composition entitled Kabiyak.
