Messiah: A Fundraising Concert for the Benefit of the Hungry (in partnership with Project Joyride)
The COVID 19 pandemic has greatly impacted the lives of the most vulnerable members of society, one consequence being the loss of livelihood. As poverty continued to increase in the country, the means to provide for basic needs such as food and shelter was a struggle for the majority of the urban poor communities in Manila. In Dec. 2020, artists from all over the world have come together to help those who are most in need through a virtual fundraising performance of George Frideric Handel’s MESSIAH. The concert aimed to seek donations for the urban poor communities in Manila, through Project Joyride.
Under the direction of internationally acclaimed Philippine soprano, Evelyn Mandac, the performance features both Philippine and International artists including Stefanie Quintin-Avila, Michelle Mariposa, Ramon Gabriel Tenefrancia, Austin Allen, Jasper Domingo, and Paolo Panagsagan. The production also featured the voices of Koro San Miguel, headed by Miguel Javier and Himig Sanghaya Chorale headed by Mary Katherine Trangco. The virtual concert was co-presented by the Independent Philippine Art Ventures, Inc. and the Cultural Arts Events Organizer.
